Defining the Wellness Paradigm

Such a seemingly simple question, “What is a Wellness Center?” But ten years ago, that question yielded widely inconsistent answers as part of the “Defining the Wellness Paradigm: The State of Wellness Initiatives and Wellness Centers in Senior Living Communities.”
As part of our ongoing commitment to translating current practices into forward-thinking and progressive designs through research, this study was the first-ever to gather insights and information on the state of wellness in senior living communities.
The objectives of this survey were to help define the design, operating characteristics and use of the Wellness Centers, and to gauge the impact these have on senior living communities. These findings also were used as an important industry resource for communities that were planning new or updated Wellness Centers.
